The first tournament was held in 2005 to raise funds for MARINES HELPING MARINES, a national organization founded after the events of 9-11 to assist in-patient combat wounded Marines at Bethesda Naval Hospital and other locations.
From 2005 to 2016, because of the generosity of our golfers and sponsors, our tournaments raised $106,730.39 which directly benefited our wounded servicemen and women.
On December 31, 2016, the MARINES HELPING MARINES organization closed its doors as the number of combat wounded in-patients thankfully subsided. MARINES HELPING HEROES was created by the Anne Arundel County Detachment to continue the event's great legacy of service to our wounded heroes.
The tournament date for 2020 will be announced soon.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2019 MHH Golf Tournament. We have the best and most loyal golfers. Hope to see you again this year.
The tournament in 2020 will be our 15th golf event. We look forward to seeing you there.
The Marines Helping Heroes Foundation has partnered with the Anne Arundel County Detachment of the Marine Corps League to continue the fundraising efforts that began in 2005. This annual charity tournament has become a tradition in Anne Arundel County and is the premier veterans golfing event in Maryland.
Funds raised directly benefit the Semper Fi Fund and the Treat NOW coalition. These organizations assist active duty military, veterans, and others suffering from Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries, both of which have been linked to the epidemic of 22 suicides per day among our veterans.
